To those of you who knew him, Thomas Fahey was an incredible man. He trained many horses and riders to go on to win at many shows. Thomas Fahey died this past weekend in the Kentucky plane crash, along with a couple of his clients.
I'm getting together with the INHJA board to do a memorial for him, probably a memorial cup or class at the INHJA horse shows. If you want to get involved please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or post to get my snail mail address.
Hey guys. Its your mod =]! Sorry i havnt been active in here... i took a long break from livejournal... but i want to get this community going again. I'll be working on a new layout and just cleaning up.
ok i went down to Draft Parade on Thursday and i was recording whats going on down there. So now i made a video and i trying to upload it everywhere i can!
So anyhow its 6:51 long about 45mb in size Two tracks been used which are: Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People (full metal jacket remix)This has swearing in it!! Gnarls Barkley - Crazy involed? 110 horses and most of the troop.
So yer if ur woundering what Draft Parade is when the Troop goes away to partice the Musical Drive/ Salutes or Training new driver or horses in team etc etc.
went out to barn today to ride spice for the second day in a row [miracle!] lol. he was such a sweatheart. i let him burn his energy first & thats where i got most pictures. then i did join-up with him & then tacked up & rode. he was sooo good! afterwards he was free in the arena while i took down jumps & he just followed me around like a puppy dog! so cute! i love my little man!
dragged myself out of bed at 1015 & managed to get to the barn 20 mins later. i just HAD to see my horse. it was super pretty out when i got up..but by time i got to the barn it was cloudy && WINDY! so instead of riding today i decided to just free lunge him and take pictures. he got a good grooming session..soo muddy! some treats .. and then off we went. i took about 45 pictures but tried to just upload the good ones :p ( spice it up some moreCollapse )
I was talking to Barb [we split spice till i can totally afford him..she's in charge of stuff though] & she said how our barn is going down hill & we should move. Well, she asked my opinon first and I said definantly. Got some barns in mind..but we're going to a show barn.
Big change for me & Spice..because as we were previously at a "schooling show barn" we're trying to find somewhere that we can go for rated shows. I can now show in adult classes..I think? Well, I'm 18. But Spice & I are also at the level where we might be able to start really competitve showing. And I have the money & will continue to make the money to do it.
At our barn currently the main reason I was there was for an escape from Garden of Eden. I was there because they had trails. But the guy that has the trails is old and when he dies his son is closing off the trails. To get to most of the trails you have to go thru the pasture, over a creek, open a gate, close it..and then you're there. And one of the other trail riders asked if he could put a bridge over the creek & the owners said no. It's tough to get to the trails that way cuz it involves a lot of getting on/off & most of the people there are older so they need mounting blocks or something. We have one ring which is usually occupied by the foal, and it's outdoor. The footing is bad no matter what weather. In the summer is hard as rocks, in the winter it's all slip slidey & uneven and stuff. The owners are really nice its just not the facilities Spice & I need if we're going to show. We need a trainer too. Even if I can only afford once a month, a lesson once a month would help me lots. And an indoor.
So we're looking. We're going to call & visit places. Most of the places we're looking for are in the 350 range..which is a 50 dollar more per split [50 more for barb to pay and 50 more for me]. My parents think this is a great idea and will really benefit Spice & I. There really is no point of Spice & I staying at our current barn if everyone that we went trail riding with left & the trails will close anyways. I'm coughing up the extra 50 bucks & paying for the showing & lessons and such..but I'm looking forward to finding a potentially new home for Spice.
I feel bad because this will be his 3rd barn in the time I've had him, but hopefully we'll find someone right for us.
There's a really good chance this has been brought up before in this community or another, but since I've missed it or am oblivious (you pick which one you like more) but I want people's opinions, and I'm going to take the majority vote, and do it that way:
In general (in english, that is) at the canter, how do you carry your seat? Do you keep you but stuck to the saddle like glue and ride your horse like a rocking horse, or do you sortta go up in a half seat and suspend yourself? I know hunters and jumpers may vary, but there's gotta be a happy medium somewhere between there. I tend to go in half seat on the jumper course, but with my hunter mare, I try to sit more, and sit up, rather than forward as I do in jumpers. I could be completely wrong, but I really don't know- I've gotten to many different answers to pick just one!
Thankyou muchos in advance X-posted like you can't believe!
so, i know i have posted pictures about a million times in the past like, two days, but this camera has made photographing zach A LOT easier....so i do it A LOT!! i dragged my mom out to the barn today so she could get some of him undersaddle because i had NONE and yeah, he looks pretty good. i just clipped him so he is all white too. ^^) yay for trace clips!! WARNIN: LOTS OF PICTURES!! ( fly!!Collapse )
so after being MIA for a long, long, long time & a username switch..im back.
Spice is doing fine and definantly enjoying the cold weather that winter brought..because I have this circulation problem in the winter I dunno what it is but I lose all circulation in my hands/feet no matter what I do & if it doesn't start ciculating normally in a ceratin time period I have to get it chopped off. My mom has it its heriditary..it sucks. So no matter how many bags & gloves I wear I still can't be outside for too long. Luckily the weathers been in the 40's so I could ride for a few days. Anyyyways.
7 weeks ago i was in a jumping lesson and my horse tripped before a fence. like right before a fence the second he went down, i went into 2 point. he went down and i went flying. i landed on my shoulder (i'm apparently a terrible faller. it was only my second real fall) and i snapped my collar bone. it's been 7 weeks since i've been riding. and, since i don't own my own horse, 7 weeks since i've even been around them. i'm dying inside. i know this is a bit of a depressing story for 'horse fun' but i hoped that someone would have a story that could be uplifting. or if there was someone out there that could relate. even if you have just stories and pictures of what you've been doing lately.
hey all! hope you had a great christmas/holiday/yeah that!! it rained today and has been warm for the past two days so all of the snow is turning to slush. i got some pics of my boy today. he is really fuzzy and this warm weather really sucks because i decided not to clip him this winter and he was boiling after our ride.
